9/11 Data Viz Interest Group Talk

Location: Library Data Visualization Lab (first floor facing rotunda entrance)

Presenter: Jeremy DiBatistta (senior CS undergraduate student

Project name: "Optimizing University Statistics using Plotly, Sklearn, and Python"

Tools used: Jupyter Notebook configured with a Python 3 kernel, Anaconda 3.6+, Plotly API for Python, Numpy, Pandas, Sklearn (it may be easier for me to present on my own laptop)

Brief Description: Presentation will be going through using machine learning algorithms to identify university success based on factors such as starting salaries, ethnic diversity, standardized scores, etc.  The presentation will then go through using Plotly's API in order to visualize and present results.

Project Name: Development of East Asia based on cities.

Tools used: d3.js

Brief description: The project shows soaring population and urbanization of East Asia's cities.  Through this visualization we can estimate the growth of cities and also find the differences in urbanization between East Asia countries.
